Red Rock Canyon State Park

Red Rock Canyon State Park is a central california RV park that features scenic desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations. The park is located where the southernmost tip of the Sierra Nevadas converge with the El Paso Range. Each tributary canyon is unique, with dramatic shapes and vivid colors.

After wet winters, the park's floral displays are stunning. Wildlife you may encounter includes roadrunners, hawks, lizards, mice and squirrels.

Camping
Ricardo Campground is tucked up against the base of dramatic desert cliffs, with 50 primitive campsites, potable water, pit toilets, fire rings, and tables; you must bring your own wood or purchase it from a ranger. A maximum of 8 people is allowed per site, and there are no group sites.

Camping is first-come, first served; there is no reservation system. The campground can fill up on weekends in the spring, especially if the weather is nice or on holiday weekends, so arriving on a Thursday evening or Friday morning is recommended.

This is an exciting place to visit and have serve as your base for exploration of Yosemite, the historic Gold Country and nearby mountain lakes, rivers and streams.

There is always something to do at Yosemite Westlake!

When you're not joining one of the camp hosts for a morning walk, run or afternoon hike, playing horseshoes, watching your kids or grandkids fish in our "catch and release" lake/pond, viewing the star-lit skies at night or sitting around the campfire -- you can sightsee in Yosemite, visit a historic gold rush town and shop in quaint shops, pan for gold, visit a nearby museum, fish nearby lakes or streams, go horseback riding, hike or backpack nearby trails, go bird watching or see gigantic trees or beautiful wildflowers.

If you're the adventuresome type you can:
- canoe, kayak, or riverraft nearby rivers such as the Merced or the Tuolumne or the wild (and well-known to river-rafters) Cherry Creek,
- boat, houseboat, waterski or jetski Lakes McClure, McSwain or Don Pedro,
- go hanggliding over the foothills below Coulterville,
- go 4-wheeling or motorcycle riding at nearby parks or trails,
